This blog post has been made specifically for members of the Actuary Accelerator Community (AAC), but anyone who is studying for an exam can benefit from it!
For AAC Members With 3+ Months Until Your Exam
You’ve now reached the second stage of your studying! Â Bet it feels great to be through your study guide for the first time.
Typically, this stage will take you about two weeks.
This stage is all about reviewing and increasing your understanding of any topics that you previously found difficult.
I recommend reviewing all sections you tracked as *** and **** in your Tracking Workbook.
Here are my suggested ways to increase your understanding of each difficult topic:
– Reread or rewatch the lesson
– Search YouTube for videos relating to the topic
– Search the internet for helpful websites related to the topic
– View the relevant material in another study manual (you can get a free 1-day trial of the ASM and ACTEX manuals for Exam P here and here, and FM here and here)
– Do more practice questions relating to the section
– Ask about it in our members-only WhatsApp group!
Note: I’m not recommending that you do ALL of these methods. Do as many as you need to in order to get your understanding of the topic up to about 90% or higher.
Some methods may be more convenient for you so use those methods first!
Of course, if you have any questions about this process, feel free to ask me or the other members in the WhatsApp group! We’re here to help!
For AAC Members With 2 Months or Less Until Your Exam
This is likely the first stage of your studying and the number of days that you’ll be doing review depends on how long you have left until your exam and what you’ve already done in your studying up to this point.
This stage is all about reviewing and increasing your understanding of any topics that you previously found difficult.
Chances are, you probably have an idea of which topics you have been struggling with, but I recommend that you actually make a list of ALL the topics that you don’t feel 100% comfortable with.
To do this,
– In the Actuary Accelerator Community, go to the Resources By Category Tab -> Exam Resources -> How to Study for Actuarial Exams and download the Tracking & Question Block Template
– In column B & C, rate your understanding of each of the sections/lessons in your study manual or online seminar
Once that’s done, start reviewing all sections you marked as *** and **** in your Tracking Workbook.
Here are my suggested ways to increase your understanding of each difficult topic:
