You might have thought that the most productive way to spend your summer would be to pass an actuarial exam.

Well, you’re right…if your ULTIMATE GOAL is to pass an actuarial exam.

But your ULTIMATE GOAL is probably to get an actuarial JOB or INTERNSHIP, not just pass some exams.

If I’m right about that, then you need to change your strategy for this summer.

That’s because passing an exam won’t differentiate you when you start looking for a job in the fall. (Almost everyone will have 1-2 exams passed; they’re the expectation, not the differentiation.)

So, what I’m saying here, is that instead of studying 8+ hours per day in the summer (that’s a recipe for burnout), there is a way you could break up the studying, still be ultra-productive, and become BETTER QUALIFIED when you start your job search.

The unfortunate thing is that most future actuaries don’t know HOW to do that. They don’t know how to increase their chances of getting a job. (Especially when hiring season is only 6 months away).
